What is it? 

Sonshine Kids is our Sunday morning ministry to children who range from infants to 6th graders. It consists of an infant & toddler nursery and our children’s church program for kids preschool up to 6th grade. On any given week we serve anywhere from 50-70 kids.

What is a typical week in Sonshine Kids?

Families may begin our online check-in as they arrive on Sunday mornings. Our children begin the service in worship and prayer with their families in the Sanctuary. After prayer, children are dismissed to our fellowship hall where they are greeted by our Sonshine Kids’ leaders. The next hour of our morning consists of a variety of activities including a Bible story video and lesson, a Bible literacy game, and a coloring or craft time.

What are we learning? 

We are embarking on our third year of our Bible study, called The Gospel Project for kids. This is a Christ-centered chronological journey through scripture. We’ve taken a look at how the gospel unfolds from Genesis through Revelation. We spent about two years in the Old testament, and this summer we transitioned into the New Testament. Our goal is that kids would see that the Bible is not just a collection of stories, but God’s story of redemption through Jesus Christ. Each lesson includes a Bible story video, a strong Christ connection, a big question, and a main point or take away.

What do we believe?

  1. God’s word is important (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

We believe our lives, our words, our teaching and our ministry must be rooted in scripture.

  1. Relationships are important (John 13:34-35)

We believe our kids need first and foremost a relationship with Jesus Christ.  We believe kids desire love and community.  We pray that they would know that love through our leaders and volunteers and the friendships they build here.  We pray this is a place where every child who walks through our doors would know they are safe and that they belong.

  1. Having fun is important (Zechariah 8:5)

We take fun seriously in Sonshine Kids.  We may get a little messy and a little noisy.  We’re going to play hard, cheer each other on, sing, dance, and laugh! Nehemiah 8:10 says the joy of the Lord is my strength.  We pray that our kids would experience that joy here and take it with them to be their strength for years to come!
